Helpful guidance to what your clearance team can and can’t remove and how to avoid surprises on the day.

Helpful guidance to what your clearance team can and can’t remove and how to avoid surprises on the day.

When you’re planning a house clearance, one of the biggest questions is what can actually be removed. While most everyday household items are fine, there are some exceptions, usually for safety or environmental reasons. This guide breaks things down clearly so you know exactly what to expect when approaching your house clearance.

Items We Can Take

A professional clearance team like ours can remove the majority of household contents, including:

Furniture & Bulky Items

  • Sofas, wardrobes, beds, mattresses
  • Tables, chairs, shelving
  • Heavy or awkward items that need two‑person lifting

White Goods & Appliances

  • Fridges and freezers
  • Washing machines, dryers and dishwashers
  • Ovens, microwaves, smaller electricals
(Some appliances require licensed disposal, which we handle for you.)

General Household Items

  • Clothing, books, toys
  • Kitchenware, décor
  • Bric‑a‑brac and mixed items

Garden & Outdoor Items

  • Tools, lawnmowers, garden furniture
  • Sheds (dismantled or intact)
  • Green waste

Garage & Loft Contents

  • Boxes, stored items, sports equipment
  • DIY materials and tools

If it’s part of a typical household, we can almost always take it.

Items We Can’t Take

A few things fall into restricted or specialist categories:

Hazardous Materials

  • Asbestos
  • Gas bottles
  • Fuel or oil containers

These require special handling by licensed hazardous‑waste teams.

Medical or Clinical Waste

  • Sharps
  • Medical containers
  • Pharmaceutical waste

Illegal Items

  • Weapons
  • Controlled substances

If you’re unsure about something,  just ask. We’ll advise you on the safest route.

What About Recyclable or Donatable Items?

Our professional team doesn’t just “clear”; they sort through belongings looking for items that can be recycled and offered a second lease of life. This sorting process is also essential for responsible waste disposal.

We regularly:

  • Donate good-quality furniture and household items
  • Recycle as much as possible
  • Reduce landfill wherever we can

If items have resale value, we’ll also let you know (and they may offset some of your clearance cost).
